Desktop Chrome required. Translation uses Chrome’s on-device Translator API and a supported language pair. The first language pack may download. No app install or registration.
One format, one clear starting point
One clean workflow
No dashboard, account, or project setup. The homepage is the tool: open a document, choose a language, and take the translated file with you.
Drag in a supported file. Reading happens locally inside the browser tab.
Chrome downloads the needed language pack, then translates the text locally.
Compare source and translation side by side, then copy or download the result.
Best V1 experience
DOCX translation keeps the document container, paragraph order, tables, headers, footers, and paragraph styling where possible. Complex inline formatting may be simplified inside translated paragraphs.
We preserve page order in the preview. V1 downloads translated PDF content as TXT.
Paragraphs stay separated and the translated result downloads as clean UTF-8 text.
Scanned documents and pixel-perfect PDF reconstruction are deliberately not promised.
When it earns its place
A document translator is built for whole files, not pasted snippets. It keeps your paragraphs in order, preserves the structure of a Word document, and hands you a translated file you can keep working with — instead of a text box you copy out of one paragraph at a time.
Drop in a Spanish contract, a Japanese spec sheet, or a French research paper and get a readable English draft in seconds. Think of it as a fast way over a language wall — not a finished, publishable translation.
Machine translation is a draft, not a final. Use it to move a whole document across a language so a human editor can fix tone and accuracy, instead of retyping it paragraph by paragraph. The DOCX output keeps your structure so the edits stay in place.
Internal memos, client paperwork, anything you can't in good conscience send to a stranger's server. Because translation runs on Chrome's on-device model, there is no upload step — the architecture itself is the privacy guarantee.
Draft quality varies by language pair and document complexity. Legal, medical, and immigration paperwork need a qualified human translator. This tool gets you most of the way to understanding — the part that needs to be exact still needs review.
How it compares
Different document translation tools support different formats and output options. This document translator handles several formats in one place, keeps document structure where supported, and runs locally so your file is not uploaded. PDF files download as translated text; Word, Excel, and EPUB files have their own format-specific download paths. The trade-off is honest: it depends on Chrome's on-device model, so quality is draft-level and a few language pairs may not be available yet.
Privacy by architecture
This service does not have a file server or user database. Page analytics does not receive your documents or their text. Supported files are read in the browser and translated by Chrome's on-device language model.

Yes. This MVP has no account, payment, or usage counter. Translation depends on Chrome's built-in Translator API and the language packs available on your device.
No. File reading and supported translation run in your browser. Your document is not sent to this website or stored by us.
Google Translate also offers document translation. This tool focuses on browser-local file reading and on-device translation, with a side-by-side preview and downloadable results. Supported formats and output limitations are explained before you translate.
You can open PDF files with selectable text, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, XLSX, CSV, and DRM-free EPUB files up to 10 MB. Scanned PDFs need OCR and are not supported in this MVP.
Yes. For PDFs with selectable text, reading and translation happen in your browser. The file is not uploaded to this website or any third-party server during the process.
DOCX downloads preserve the original document container, paragraph order, and the first text style in each paragraph where possible. PDF translation preserves page order in the preview but exports as text in this MVP.
Translation runs on Chrome's on-device language model. After the browser downloads the language pack for your language pair once, the translation itself happens locally on your device. You'll need a compatible Chrome version and a connection for that first download.
On-device translation currently requires a compatible Chrome version, a supported language pair, and enough storage for the language pack. You can still use the sample document to inspect the complete workflow.
