How to use the EPUB translator

  1. 01

    Open a DRM-free EPUB

Choose an EPUB book up to 10 MB that you are entitled to use. The tool reads its chapter text locally; encrypted or DRM-protected publications cannot be processed.

  2. 02

    Choose your language

Select the book’s source language and the language you want to read. Check the chapter preview, then translate using the on-device language model in compatible desktop Chrome.

  3. 03

    Save and test the book

Review the translated passages and download the EPUB. Open the result in your preferred reader to check chapter order, navigation, typography, and any illustrations.

Translate EPUB chapter text directly in your browser

EPUB is a book container built from chapter documents, styles, images, and navigation information. Translating the chapter text inside that container is more useful than copying a whole book into a text box: you can take the result back to your reading app and keep the original publication alongside it. This EPUB translator starts on this page, with no account creation or separate desktop application.

The preview follows the publication’s reading order and presents the extracted text for review. Use it to check that paragraphs appear in the expected sequence before starting a long translation. A short, straightforward book is a good first trial because unusual publisher markup, extensive footnotes, and fixed-layout pages can require more attention after export.

What stays inside the translated EPUB

The download keeps the EPUB container, its chapter files, and its bundled resources, including images and styles. Text is replaced within the chapter documents rather than exporting the entire publication as plain text. This gives the reader a structured EPUB file to open, while keeping image references and the original book organization available.

Preserving a container does not guarantee identical visual layout. Translation changes line lengths, page breaks, and sometimes the rhythm of a paragraph. Inline emphasis may be simplified where text is combined for translation. Words embedded in illustrations remain part of the image and are not translated. Open the output in your actual reading app to inspect headings, captions, navigation labels, and links before relying on it.

  • Translate readable chapter text in publication order.
  • Keep bundled images, styles, and the EPUB package.
  • Download an EPUB rather than a PDF or a text-only book.
  • Review inline styling and reader-specific layout after export.

A reading draft, with room for your judgment

Machine translation can help you follow the broad meaning of a book in a language you are still learning. It can also produce a first draft for editing an original manuscript that you own. It is less reliable for poetry, wordplay, dialect, and specialized terminology, where meaning often depends on context beyond an individual passage.

Compare the source and target text before download, especially where names, dates, measurements, or repeated terms matter. Keep the source EPUB for reference. The tool does not edit your original file and does not add a human editorial review. If you plan to share a translated book, make sure you have the necessary rights and review the translation for accuracy and readability first.

DRM-free books, supported languages, and local processing

Only unencrypted, DRM-free EPUB files are supported. A book that requires a store account or an authorization key may contain protected content that this page cannot read. The translator does not remove DRM. Use your own manuscript, an authorized DRM-free edition, or another publication you are permitted to process. PDF, MOBI, and AZW files cannot be selected on this EPUB page.

The language controls offer English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Availability is checked through Chrome’s on-device Translator API, so a compatible desktop browser and a supported language pair are required. Chrome may first download the relevant language pack. The book itself stays in your browser tab and is not submitted to a translation server by this website.

EPUB translation FAQ

Is the EPUB translator free and available without registration?

Yes. There is no account or payment step. Open a supported DRM-free EPUB, choose the languages, and use compatible desktop Chrome to translate on device.

Can I translate a DRM-protected ebook?

No. Encrypted and DRM-protected EPUB files are not supported, and this tool does not remove protection. Choose a DRM-free publication that you are entitled to process.

Will the result still be an EPUB?

Yes. The download retains the EPUB package and replaces readable chapter text. It is intended to open in an EPUB reader; check the exported book in your preferred app.

Does EPUB translation keep images and formatting?

Bundled images and styles are retained. Translation changes text length and can affect page breaks; inline emphasis may be simplified. Text inside images is not translated, and exact visual parity is not guaranteed.

Why is translation unavailable in my browser?

The tool needs a compatible desktop Chrome version with the on-device Translator API and an available language pair. Chrome may also need to download a language pack before your first translation.
